Tracking mobile phones – how is it possible?

Remember the days before cell phones? If you are under the age of twenty or so, you probably do not. But for the rest of us, the days before cell phones are fraught with peril because of all the dinosaurs roaming around, ready to pick us off at any point like hapless flies. At the time, cell phones were called “car phones,” because that is pretty much the only place you could use them. They were big, clunky, and you could barely hear on them. They resembled the radios that you see used in Vietnam movies. Their battery life was too short to take on the go, and they were so big that they were just too impractical to carry around. Almost nobody had one, and they were prohibitively expensive.

Improvements in Cell Phones

After a few years of improvements, they became more and more commonplace, and by the late 1990s lots of adults were carrying around cell phones. The plans were still pretty expensive and most people had a landline in addition, but more and more people were starting to purchase and carry these phones. By the early 2000s, pretty much everybody had them, and they were getting smaller and cheaper. Most people got rid of their landlines, which by that point were called “home phones.” In the 2010s, even kids have cell phones. Not just that, they have cell phones that are capable of getting online and posting to Facebook.

Cell Phone Tracking

Any cellphone that has the ability to get online also has GPS tracking. That means that your phone “knows” where you are at all times. This is helpful if you want directions to some new place, or if you want to know where the nearest donut shop is, or how to get to the best happy hour. It will also tag the location in which your photos were taken if you are into that. But the other thing GPS can do is to transmit your location to third parties. In most cases, the uses of those location-based data are innocuous. They are used in marketing or for traffic reports. In other cases, they can be used to spy on you without you knowing. Of course, you can turn the tables and spy on someone else too.

Tracking Services

Spying on other people can be considered devious. At the same time, you may have very good reasons to need to know the location and movements of someone else. You may be suspicious that your partner is cheating on you. You may have a loved one who has a drug addiction and you want to be sure that they are not going to visit their old haunts. You may have a child and you want to know what they are doing if you feel you cannot trust them. You have a variety of options if you want to install some sort of tracking device, but one you should consider is the service from You can install this on someone’s phone and be able to track their location and movements, and best of all, it is free.
